Don't know how to sing? Watch out in singing the national anthem or be penalized...

Just a couple of days ago, I've blogged about Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls' who expressed her intention in singing the Philippine National Anthem being a half-Filipina in one of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao's fight entitled, "Nicole Scherzinger to sing Lupang Hinirang".

It would definitely bring honor in the face of other nation if Nicole sings Lupang Hinirang being an internationally acclaimed singer. But she should be careful in singing the Philippine National Anthem as the National Historical Institute (NHI) is going to be more strict in implementing the law on how to properly sing the national anthem after the highly sensationalized Martin Nievera version on the Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and Ricky "Hitman" Hatton.

"The law is the law" as they say. Although I still believe that since these laws were written way way back, I guess it's only ideal to check up on these laws if it still jives with the modern times and be amended if it doesn't. As they also say, "Change is the only permanent thing in this world".

Made me curious to hear the people and entities heavily supporting this particular law how they sing the Philippine National Anthem...

Demand and supply

While I admire the efforts being done by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in busting illegal drug laboratories in the country I still have to say that finding these laboratories is not enough as we've already done this over and over again in the past. But still illegal drug laboratories heavily exist here in the Philippines. That should be a clear signal that something else must be done or at least another solution should be done in supplement to what they currently do.

Basically in business, most business-minded individual follow the rule of "demand and supply" which simply mean businesses supply (produce/market) whatever the demands of consumers. Being in business is about earning money and the only way for a business person to earn money is when people are buying whatever it is he/she sells. And it's only logical for business people to produce or market products and services that consumers/buyers/clients will buy because without consumers there would be zero business. Period. I know this because I'm a business person myself although I was more of a "need/want based" system as compared to "demand and supply" that's why business profit is not very overwhelming in the past. More about this maybe in the future...

Going back to the "business of illegal drugs" such as Shabu, Coccaine, etc... No matter how many illegal drug laboratories PDEA shuts down, there would still be others (possibly allies of the person busted as well) who will manufacture and distribute such products simply because a lot of people highly demands it! Demanding a product or service doesn't neccessarily mean people demanding such product is "need" as often times it's a "want" sadly most are an unneccessary want for that matter.

Now with my "demand and supply" explanation in mind, it's pretty obvious why busting out illegal drug laboratories is NOT ENOUGH. The statement, "Jail the pusher! Save the user" is a very bad idea. For one thing, users are not scared because there's almost zero consequence (in terms of jail time) on their part. For me, it would be best if we punish both the pusher and the user. Why? Because if there's no demand, then only a stupid business person shall manufacture and distribute a product or service that nobody need or want. In this case, if users are punished to the fullest extent then this "might" minimize or eliminate the demand because they will face a negative consequences if they are caught using illegal drugs.

I'm no congressman and I'm not even a lawyer but if there's no law that support the above suggested solution, then someone should write about this one or if there's already a law but doesn't support the above, then someone should amended it. If there's a law supporting the above suggested solution and is not being implement... Hmmm... Then someone is definitely profiting from this business.

Goodbye star-discoverer... Douglas Quijano

As hard as it is to accept this inevitable event for the most of us... All of us will die. No one is exempted. We all live and then eventually we all die.

I've always been open to the idea of dying. I've always accepted this reality. And eversince I did, I made it a point to cherish every minute of it and as much as possible with my loved ones especially with my wife. Been doing most of the things I love and enjoy with her as we both know that anytime we might die.

For me, living long is an ideal thing but what matter more is not the length of our life but rather the number of people we've positively inspired... The number of people who enjoy our company... The number of people who love and thank us... That's more important. And I believe, that Mr. Douglas Quijano has touched a lot of lives especially in the showbiz industry such as Richard Gomez, Joey Marquez, Gelli De Belen, to name a few being one of the popular star-discoverer in the industry and of course people in his personal life.

To the loved ones of Mr. Quijano, my sincerest condolences. And to all who are still living, I do hope that you wisely spend your time especially with your loved ones as whether you like it or not, whether you accept it or not, whether you believe it or not... Our time will come.

Are Pinoys naturally whiners?

Is it just Filipinos or is it really human nature that people are whiners? I know I whine as well from time to time especially when I was a bit less mature but now that I'm matured I guess not to the point that I may be considered as a frequent whiner... Although I believe I still whine from time to time being imperfect and all. But I always try to keep things on the right perspective. Kids whining about their parents, siblings whining about their other siblings, students whining about teachers, employees whining about their superiors, citizens whining about their government, etc. Of course, there are times that it's alright to whine but definitely NOT all the time. There are just exemptions.

In the spirit of Philippine Independence a while ago, I can't help but smile to a news report I read where US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton commended our country in honor of our 111th independence for being THE world's beacon of democracy with a lot of "whiners" pertaining to what the US Secretary of State said and about democracy here in the Philippines.

First of all, I would like to personally extend my appreciation to Mrs. Clinton for giving a piece of her hectic time to greet us and give us kind words on one of the best days of our country. Second of all, the issue here is Mrs. Clinton giving her opinion and should be respected to the highest level as everybody is entitled to his or her opinion. These whiners in the article I read speak of "abuse of democracy" in the Philippines, I agree to this big time as it is pretty evident on the way these Filipinos give out their commentaries (in a very disrespectful way which is basically an abuse in the freedom of speech or being irresponsible with the use of freedom or democracy) on another person's opinions. These guys definitely proven what they said that democracy in the Philippines is a joke contrary to what Mrs. Clinton said because as simple as giving out respectful commentaries we can't even do.

So yeah, maybe Mrs. Clinton was wrong. I have no argument with that. I just smiled at the fact to see the evidence of Pinoys being whiners on almost everything aside from our own selves. Try to reflect on it... We whine a lot about other people, other things but we seldom or worse never whine because of ourselves. We always find someone or something else to blame for whatever mishaps that happen to us, our family, our neighborhood, our country, our world, our galaxy and our universe.

I tell you this... There are things in this world that we have minimal to zero control or influence thus aside from just whining about it because it doesn't favor us try doing something else aside from whining. Don't just whine. Accompany it with action, personal action. Unfavorable people, things and events WILL always be with us. We can never eliminate it. With that in mind, what we could only do is to find ways to go around with it and become favorable to us. As Poker players say, "You don't have control the hands your dealt".

Happy Independence Day to all Filipinos

I'm not much of a History guy but I definitely appreciate what the Filipino people in the past did to fight for our independence against forces internationally and sadly locally as well.

So to all Filipino people of this generation, let's give thanks to all who died fighting for our independence and in return make the most out of it by helping improve for the better the welfare of our country and the world mainly via personal initiatives to improve in all aspect individually because collectively each and every single Filipino improving has a very big impact in the overall wellness of the country and in turn the whole world as well. I hope that this time around, let's fight less on petty issues and cooperate more in improving our one and only mother country - the Philippines.

Happy Independence Day to all Filipinos this June 12, 2009 (Friday) and more power to all your personal endeavors. Be a hero to yourself, to your loved ones, to your country and to the world as a whole via the simple things you could share. Enjoy your long weekend guys!

Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls to sing Lupang Hinirang

Nicole Scherzinger, the half-Filipino leader of the female singing group Pussycat Dolls, expressed her interest in singing Lupang Hinirang or the Philippine National Anthem in the upcoming fight of international boxing superstar - Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao.

Personally, it would be an honor for the Philippines for Nicole to sing the national anthem as this would mean another positive news or plus point for our beloved country. Imagine, Nicole an international singing icon known everywhere in the world to proudly sing Lupang Hinirang. Just like it was an honor when Charice Pempengco and other international and local singers sang our national anthem.

But I do want to give Nicole (as if we're close but who knows she might or her personal assistant might be able to read this little blog of mine and get the message) an advise to follow the Philippine Law about singing the country's national anthem especially the marching beat if she don't want to be criticized heavily by the National Historical Institute (NHI) here in the Philippines and other solid concerned entities or individuals for violating the law on how to properly sing the national anthem. I just worry that she might somehow be tempted to change its beat because of her American singing influence which normally "poppify" or "hiphopize" (these coined words are inspired by DJ Delamar in RX 93.1 FM station) songs. Just like what happened to Martin Nievera where he sung the song ballad-like.

Anyway... Whether she sings it as per the Philippine Law or not as I don't really make this "proper singing of national anthem" a big issue as compared to rape; murder; theft; etc., personally, it's an honor for the Filipino people to have an internationally acclaimed singer who has the Filipino blood sing our national anthem.

The connection of Mother Earth and street rallies

An estimated 15,000 Filipinos participated in the rally yesterday that took place in Makati CBD protesting about Charter Change (CHACHA) that the current administration and its allies are pushing. But what does this CHACHA really mean? And how many of those estimated 15,000 Filipinos that participated in this rally know at least the general overview of the word? I really do hope that at least 90% of those who participated the rally yesterday really know what they are protesting and not just "paid puppets" who were convinced to join the protest to add number. It's not that hard to convince paid puppets in rallies these days as evident by poverty. We all know this... The government knows this and so are its detractors that's why I personally hope that at least 90% of the rallyists yesterday really understand deeply as to why they protest against CHACHA.

I do not take any side between the administration and opposition. I take the side of which is right for me. By "right for me" it means, getting all the facts of an issue (both positive and negative points) before deciding which is the right thing to say and do about the issue. Honestly I don't want to put too much effort in learning this CHACHA issue as there are a lot of issues that I focus my "limited energy" on. By limited, I mean, my 24 hours per day as we all have limited energy to use per day and I choose to spend most of my energy on things or issues that will improve myself on a more personal and controlled level. CHACHA is an external issue to which I do not have direct control of the outcome that's why I don't really give much attention to it until now that it is affecting my "personal advocacy" which is the protection and survival of Mother Earth...

I don't really care whether there would be a change in the constitution to improve our country for the better or whether a change of political country leaders (which we do regularly and personally all shout that they are THE leader that this country need for whatever funny reasons they have and when they are already on the position it seems they are just repeating the same mistake of their predecessors over and over again) for the better. My position on the issue is simple... I certainly don't support politicians who keep on attacking other politicians instead of supporting one another and cooperate with each other to improve our country. I certainly don't support politicians who are "too clean and too perfect" as I don't believe that there is one human being on our world that is Zero cavity especially those politicians who are angry with "corruption". I just hope (really really hope) that they themselves are practicing what they preach by not being corrupt in any aspect. I certainly don't support arrogant politicians because it sends a wrong message especially to the eyes of the young ones and old ones who have maturity level of young ones. These are some of the things that I don't personally support. Meaning, I support all of its opposites. Change of a constitution or not, it boils down to WHO shall lead this country as a republic or as a parliament. The opposition don't want CHACHA because they feel it will inhibit them from becoming the main leader of the country as they feel that the changing of constitution is just a way to extend the administration's term while the administration want CHACHA because they think it will improve the politics in the country. All parties have their own personal agenda thus personal gain from it. So it doesn't really matter. As to who to believe between the parties, citizens like me doesn't really have the mechanism to honestly and truely know.

So why does these rallies affect Mother Earth? Have you seen Makati CBD especially the area around Ayala Tower One in Ayala Ave., Paseo Ave. and Makati Ave.? I happen to see the remains a while ago when I dropped off my wife in her building. Paper confettis scattered in the area are everywhere which are pretty unneccessary in voicing out one's concern. No need to scatter "garbages" during rallies like yesterday in Makati just to air out one's concern. These small garbages collectively affects Mother Earth negatively. Imagine the trees that were cut down just for these confettis which result to flash floods and high carbon levels in the atmosphere which in turn results to Global Warming which would lead to extinction of mankind... Imagine the drainage being clogged by these confettis and other "small" garbages especially made with plastics and styrofoam which also result to big floods as it's very hard to dissolve which take years... So to all the politicians, both administration and opposition, you love our country? Love the betterment of the majority of the Filipino people by not giving fish but by teaching them how to fish for themselves... Love Mother Earth because our country is a part of one world by protecting it to the simplest and grandest ways we can individually think off... I don't have anything against rallies as it's a pure form of democracy but there is such a thing as "responsible democracy" and throwing garbage and the rally leaders initiating garbages (confettis) are very irresponsible and certainly an abuse of democracy.
